Affordable housing for Silay’s fisherfolk

BACOLOD CITY, Dec. 26 (PIA6) — Silay City’s urban poor will benefit from the Fisherman’s Project of the city next year as a project of the Social Housing Finance Corporation, (SHFC), a press release from the city government said.

SHFC has identified Silay City, located some 14 kilometrs from this capital city, as one of the local government units in the Visayas eligible under the Localized Community Mortgage Program (LCMP).

SHFC has earlier approved the accreditation of Silay City in LCMP and the granting of the Omnibus Commitment Line worth P7.5 million to Silay’s four housing projects.

The SHFC is a government owned and controlled corporation tasked to be the lead government agency to undertake social housing programs that will cater to the formal and informal sectors in the low-income bracket.

The projects are the Fisherman’s Village Homeowner’s Association Inc. Zone 2, Zone 3, Zone 4, and Zone 5, all located at Don Emelio Gaston Street in Silay City.

Jessie Yutis, Silay Housing Authority officer-in-charge, said 295 families at the Fisherman’s Village are the beneficiaries of the lots.

Silay City Mayor Jose Montelibano, through the Silay Housing Authority, supports the Fisherman’s Project which will gives an affordable and decent housing and basic services to underprivileged and homeless citizens in the city. (JSC/CAD-PIA6 Silay City)
