Woman Says False Craigslist Ad Lists Home for Sale
The following excerpts are from the Peabody Police Department press log from Dec. 29-30.
Thursday, Dec. 29
- 2:23 p.m. Officers asked for assistance in dealing with motor vehicles driving on the wrong side of the road at the intersection of Lynn and County streets. Lynn Street, heading north from the intersection, was closed to traffic at the time due to the wake for Firefighter James Rice at Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home.
- 3:45 p.m. A 25-year-old Everett woman and a 23-year-old Somerville woman were both issued summonses for shoplifting, following a report of two shoplifters detained at Macy’s.
- Police received calls throughout the afternoon, regarding information on road closures for James Rice’s funeral Friday and about the procession itself.
- 5:32 p.m. Store security at Sears reported having a shoplifter detained. Police said the store was going to handle the matter internally, although a court summons was still issued to a 39-year-old Salem resident for shoplifting by concealment.
- 8:24 p.m. Police responded to a report of a car break-in at Workout World. A passenger side window was smashed and a purse was taken.
- 8:50 p.m. An Elmwood Circle resident reported there was a fraudulent advertisement posted on Craigslist. She said the ad falsely claimed that her home was for sale.
- 10:22 p.m. A caller on Princeton Street said her car was struck while parked outside. Police said a recycling bin was thrown at the car, damaging the taillight. There were no suspects.
Friday, Dec. 30
- 2:50 a.m. A resident on Paul Avenue reported vandalism to a motor vehicle. Police said the front passenger’s side tire was slashed.
- 9:40 a.m. Shawn P. Donovan, 54, of 6 Benevento Cir., Peabody, was arrested at his residence for domestic assault and battery, following a report of a domestic disturbance.
- 10:48 a.m. An Emily Lane resident reported a suspicious male in a small red car was taking pictures in the area. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
- 1:51 p.m. Police responded to a road rage incident on Winona Street. A male caller said his wife was trying to run him off the road. Both cars were pulled over when the call came in, but officer said the couple had left the area before they arrived.
